Abs&Booty | Abs&booty in english

ABS = effective core exercise. Class consists of 40 seconds long workout parts and 20 seconds long rest parts. This is functional training for core!
BOOTY = effective exercise for thighs and glutes.

Acrobatics

Open level: No prerequirements needed, the class is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced acrobats. In this class we practise different floor acro skills, building from foundations and progressing from there. Everyone can progress according to their own skills. The class also includes strength and mobility excercises that support the practice of acrobatics. The trick content of the class is influenced by gymnastics, capoeira, tricking, breakdance, parkour and contemporary dance.

Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic yoga form in which the traditional movement series progresses to the pace of breathing. The species is versatile in training the strength and flexibility of various body tissues, and develops balance, promptness, sensory management and concentration. Initially, the basics of ashtanga yoga breathing and muscle locking techniques are being practiced with the beginner class.

Barre

Barre class is a regime of ballet, pilates, coordination, strength and flexibility training using a ballet barre, floor and resistance band. This total body conditioning technique has been intertwined to create an intense workout,  focus in your core center guaranteed to sculpt and strengthen your entire body. Each class includes a warm-up, ballet inspired workout on the barre, pilates inspired workout on the floor and stretching.

BodyBalance™

Les Mills BodyBalance™ lessons concentrate on the well-being of body and mind. The lesson consists of movements of balance, mobility, and strength, as well as stretching and relaxing. The programme is from New Zealand and it is choreographed to beautiful and inspiring music. BodyBalance™ stretches and strengthens the muscles and ligaments. It also enhances our coordination, balance, and stress tolerance.

BodyCombat™

BodyCombat is an empowering cardio workout where you let your inner fighter out! Inspired by different kinds of martial arts, such as karate, kick-boxing, muay thai and taekwondo, the program teaches you the main principals of the different martial arts, lifts your heart rate up to the ceiling and makes you push yourself to the limits. The class is suitable for all levels and you don't have to have any previous experience of martial arts training.

Bodyweight

Street workout is a form of calisthenics: training is performed using your own body weight. Street workout improves your strength and coordination. There are easier and harder variations of each movement so you can be either new or experienced in this sport.

Bootcamp

Class is functional high-intensity training. Class starts with short warm-up and continues with workout of the day which is done with ones own pace. Movements develope balance, motor skills, endurance and strength.

Campus jog

A jog is every friday between 13 of September - 4 of October at 7 am. The duration is about 1 hour.
The starting point is at the U2, next to Campus court.
The length of the routes vary between 5-10km, depending on the joggers. Running speed is calm. Free of charge, no sport sticker needed.

Circuit | Circuit staff

A diverse lesson of circuit training enhances endurance and muscle strength. The music and the encouraging instructor will keep you going throughout this lesson. Different equipment are used to make the workout more effective. All the participants helps by carrying the required equipment to the hall and back to the storage.
Circuit staff is only for the staff members of JAMK and JYU.

Contemporary dance | Modern dance 

The class is in pdf-version by name Modern dance. Contemporary dance puts your body and mind on the move! In this class, we will learn dance techniques, follow dance routines, and experience the joy of dancing. Contemporary dance is distinguished from other dance genres by its all-encompassing nature and grounded movement. This class will not only let you discover new abilities and dimensions in your body, but it will also relax your mind. Dress up in comfy, stretchy clothes, come as you are, and proceed with curiosity!

Core

This class strengthens and tones your entire core (abs, back and sides). Movements are based on pilates and yoga. Class starts with gentle warm-up and continues with balance and strengthening exercises. Join the easy class to build a rock-solid midsection!

Crosstraining

Cross Training –like group exercise is diversed and challenging training, which aims to develop performances such as endurance, strength, mobility, explosiveness, balance and coordination. Training includes varied functional movements with barbells, kettlebells etc. without forgetting the traditional body weight -training movements (squats, push-ups..) and more technical variations of them.

Dancehall feat. reggaeton

Dancehall is a dance and music style from Jamaica, whose roots are in African dance. Dance is influenced by street dancing, Latin dance music, reggae and afros. The rhythmic music of Dancehall rests with her and excites dancers for energetic spending and real revival. Reggaeton is a very popular latin dance, which uses a lot of middle body, palms and makes a variety of shoulders movements. In the classroom, movements are combined with short choreographies, with emphasis on body movements and foot rhythms.

Dance&Workout is a full-body workout class with a variety of different dance styles and types of music. In this energetic class, you can get your heart rate up with easy steps and develop your strength with groovy bodyweight exercises. Every class also has exercises focused on balance and flexibility. Class is suitable for beginners as well as for more experienced dance and fitness enthusiasts, who want a fun and effective workout.

Deep stretching

Deep strecthing is an intensive and long-lasting streching excercise that lenghtens the muscles and increases mobility. Breath, concentration and relaxation are the key elements in the deep streching class. You shouldn't attend this class after an intensive work out (e.g. heavy weight lifting or intensive running).

EASY Muscle training

A toning lesson in which all the main muscle groups are exercised to music. A short but all-around warm-up at the beginning of the lesson.

EASY Pump

The emphazise of this pump class is on tecnique and good alignments.Pump is an exercise that strenghtens your entire body. The workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. The exercises are done with barbell and the amount of weights you choose. This is the class where you can start going on pump lessons or recall the basic techniques. Part of the EASY family. Other members are EASY muscle training and EASY Yoga.

EASY Yoga

Technique class where you can start practising yoga or if you are advanced yogini, come to make a practise based on good asana alignments and breathing exercises. Yoga strengthens body, challenges balance, enhances mobility and calms mind. The focus of the class is on safe and correct poses as well as the wellbeing for body and mind.

FasciaMethod®

FasciaMethod® combines myofascial mobility training, dynamic stretching directed to specific stiff myofascia, movement control training and fascia manipulation with a small ball. The class is suitable for all who wish to improve their wellbeing and physical performance.

Fitness boxing

An effective form of fitness training in which basic tone is developed through technique and toning exercises, partly with the help of fitness equipment. Fitness boxing is an effective way to relieve and prevent tension, particularly in the neck and shoulder areas.

Flow&Yin yoga

Sunday night yoga holds space for peaceful moment to let go of stress, breath deep, strengthen body and relax muscles by sinking into deep stretches and final relaxation. The class is a combination of dynamic flow yoga and calming yin yoga based on deep stretches creating a holistic practice for both mind and body. The class is suitable for everyone regardless of previous experience. Come to find inner and outer balance and harmony, and create pure space for the new beginning of the week!

Flowyoga

Flow Yoga is a  class which combines well-being of mind and body. In Flow Yoga we move with music and we let the movement flow. Yoga strengthens body and builds up balance and flexibility. Flow Yoga is suitable for beginners as well as for those who have practised yoga before.

Foam rolling `45

A well-being class where muscles and soft tissues are massaged by a roller. The class aims to relax contracted muscles and improve blood and lymphatic circulation. The class consists of a short warm-up, mobility, massaging with a foam roller and relaxation. Take a water bottle and warm clothing with you.

Gym workout

Get familiar with gym training! This class is for you who wants a guided workout at gym or learn to use different gym equipment. The class consists of warm-up, workout with gym equipment and cool-down.

Handstand

In this class you learn the basics of handstand. Furthermore class includes lots of different mobility, fitness and strenght exercises supporting handstand training. Classes are suitable for all ages and levels, and everyone can progress according to their skills. Handstand is a physically demanding class, sweat guaranteed!

Healthy back

A class to support your posture and healthy spine. The class focuses on good body alignment, strengthening of core muscles, mobilizing of the spine and improving muscle balance. The class is suitable for everyone, especially for those working with computers and who like to prevent back problems. Try this also to recover from intensive exercise. Come and take care of your spine!

HIIT45'

HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training, and that's what this class is all about! The class starts with a quick warm-up and continues then to various intervals. After an intense half an hour we slow our breath down with cool-down. This class is 45 minutes!
Latin HIIT45': Whole body Intervall training to Latin beats. Each song consists of one high intensity movement and one low intensity movement, which will be done in intervals. All movements will be synchronized to the beat of the music. This class is 45 minutes!

Historical dances

Dances are mainly court- and folk dances from 1500s-1700s England, France and Italy. 
No special clothing needed. Class is suitable for beginners as well as those who have practiced historical dances before.

Jazz vibes

Jazz vibes is a class where you get to learn a dance choreography, built on a music track, and practice different dance techniques while learning the choreography. Choreography is built slowly and  while moving on music. Prior experience in jazz dance is not requiered. Welcome to experience turns, jumps and the joy of dance!

Kettlebell

Kettlebell training is an effective way to work out your whole body! Kettlebell builds strength and endurance, as well as improves balance. Training with kettlebells makes you use all of your muscles! During a kettlebell class you will learn how to do kettlebell swing, kettlebell clean, kettlebell windmill, squats etc. The class consists of warm up, different kinds of exercises and stretching.

Lavis®

A finnish invention! A group fitness dance class which is based on finnish and international ballroom dances such as cha cha, jive, rock, humppa and jenkka. You don't need a pair because Lavis is danced alone.

Pilates

The class is based upon the classical repertoire of Joseph Pilates with additional versatile bodyweight exercises. The main goal of the class is to train core muscle stregth and in addition, to improve whole-body flexibility and motor control. The class is suitable for everyone as exercises are presented at multiple levels.

An exercise that strenghtens your entire body. The workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. The exercises are done with barbell and the amount of weights you choose. The step boards and dumb bell are not used.

Salsa ft. reggaeton

This is a class which combines sensuel reggaeton and salsa.
Reggaeton is a music and a dance style from Puerto Rico. Typical for this dance style is rhythmic music and sensuel movements. Reggaeton is a combination of different streetdances, latin dances and pop music. 
Salsa represents a mix of Latin musical genres, but its primary component is Cuban dance music.

Shake&Twerk

We shake & serve a real dance cocktail made of dancehall, twerk and reggaeton! The main focus is in having fun while dancing, but you can also take this opportunity to get to know the characteristics of different dance styles. One thing is for sure—you will sweat! All of the dance styles are energetic and and focus on using the middle body. Each class finishes off with a longer choreography where you get to savor the ingredients. This time, dance will be served "Shaken—and stirred!"

Step

Step aerobics is made up from step sequences using a board. The step sequences can also include jumps. By adjusting the height of your board you can change the effectiveness of your workout. Step aerobics is very effective for your thighs and buttocks.

Stretching

Stretching lessons consist of diverse and long lasting stretching and mobility workouts. The aim is to improve mobility and muscle balance. There is a short warm-up at the beginning of the lesson. Stretching lessons are suitable for everyone!

STRONG by Zumba® combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric trainingmoves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep, and maybe even five more.

Zumba

Exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness class for everybody and every body! Each class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. Class is a mix of low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.

Yin yoga

Yin yoga is a very calm and relaxing yoga practise. In yin yoga we do asanas that affects muscles, fascia and joints. In strech asanas we are 3-5 minutes. Practise is suitable for all and you can do variations from the asanas. Yin yoga has balancing affect, especially if you do a lot of sport or if you want relax deeply. Take your own blanket or a towel with you to support the asanas.
